Owl About Data

So after working this summer on our monster data binder- I had a little inspiration to start creating themed binders. I started the most adorable circus and am still working on that when I have a free moment to concentrate- but my partner in crime was really motivated to get an Owl themed binder created to go with some of her other owl stuff- and after a few late nights and a lot of laughs- it is finished! AND WE LOVE IT!

So here is a sneak preview of it! The same pages are included in this set as the monster-but they are edited to better fit the theme! Again this is a set for kindergarten, first, or second grade students.

I can't wait to post some pics of our monster binder in action- the kids are working hard on theirs- and with a little patience at the beginning the students have really taken ownership and pride in them.

Mallory has already had her first student led- "Celebration Conference" using the data binder and mine are scheduled for this week- fingers crossed they go just as well.

Here are the items you can find in the Owl Binder- we did add a student reflection page!
The first person to comment will get the whole set for free- we would love to see some feedback!

The first ten to "pin" our binder preview on pinterest and comment back with their email will recieve the reflection page as a freebie and one of them will also be randomly selected to recieve the whole set.

Happy Pinning! Hope this helps someone as much as it has helped us this year!

Monster Madness and a FREEBIE

Ok- Ok... It has been FOREVER since I have posted on here- let me start with an apology. So much has happened and I had great intentions of coming to share with you and apparently no follow through. Sorry- Don't worry I put a freebie below :)

Since my last post I have started my classroom make-over and it is MONSTER MADNESS in there. Emphasis on the MADNESS more than the monster :) I have started slowly changing over my room to show the theme and really love the changes so far.

Last year I was re-united with my KTIP kid. People kept asking me about my daughter whenever we did things together and let me tell you it really pissed me off (made me mad.) But even though she looks like a kid she is NOT THAT YOUNG... but, of course,  younger than me.

Mallory (my KTIP kid) and I had a great first year teaching first grade together. We did some team teaching, switched kiddos for our enrichment block, and really took collaborating to a new level. We LOVE working together and couldn't make it through some days without each other.

So back to that MADNESS I mentioned earlier. Mallory and I have been scouring TPT for new ideas, plans, and inspiration for our classrooms. After searching through all the amazing things we found we decided to unite forces and create some of our own to post...monster themed for me of course. We are currently working on a creating a kid friendly Primary Data Binder Set and are preparing to post this weekend-YIKES. I don't think Mallory's ocean themed classroom is getting a great deal out of this- but good for me for talking her into all her help! It's great to be a mentor!

Ok- so on that subject, Mallory has all intentions of creating an Ocean set along with the Monster set and I have been playing around with some super cute Circus clip art- but wanted to ask you... What would be the next best set to create? If you can comment on some themes you would like to see it would really help us out! THANKS

Now for you... Here is a sample of our Monster Data Binder Set for primary students.

So far it contains:

Must Have Picture Books

I know, I am a little late for this linky party. That seems to be the way everything is for me--LATE!!  I guess I will blame it on summer break. No schedule and  time limits for anything. What will I do when school starts back up in 2 1/2 weeks?

I have many  favorite picture books, so I decided to limit this to a few of my favorite beginning of the year books. Here I go:

1.First Grade Jitters by: Robert Quackenbush-This book is about a little boy about to enter first grade and doesn't know what to expect.

         2. The Worst Day of My Life Ever by: Julia Cook- JR is having a very bad day. He learns that his problems happen because he isn't listening or paying attention to his mom, teacher, principal, and friends. This is a great book for social skills

Back To School Freebie!

Happy Saturday everyone!!

Today looks like a good day to sit by the pool and do absolutely nothing! So, I called my sister Mary and she is heading over this afternoon for a day of nothing but relaxation. It won't be long and there won't be to much of that, so we have to get it while we can.

The first couple weeks of school are always so crazy. Why do you think that is? It seems that after Labor Day  things calm down, remember we start school August 8th.  What are some things that you do to help those first couple of weeks run smoothly?

Mary sent me this yesterday. It's a vowel digraph sort review for second grade. I am going to use it after I teach my firsties this skill as a word work station. Click on the picture  to download it. We would love some feedback if you download it.

A Flash Freebie

Happy Wednesday, I think!! :) Since school has been out I am having a hard time keeping up with what day of the week it is. Anyone else have this problem.?

I went to my room yesterday and began organizing all of my literacy games that I have made or purchased from other talented bloggers. I don't even want to know how much money I have spent in colored ink!  Anyway, it inspired me to come home and make a game for the beginning of the year. I want to see how many of my students  can distinguish between CVC and CVC-e words.

I am giving this game away for FREE until I get home this afternoon. I am going back to school to continue the organizing the mess that is laying all over my tables.

Click on the picture below to go to my TPT store. Hurry it won't be free for long!

Short Vowel Freebie

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I started going into work yesterday but forgot my camera to take pictures. Oh well, I will just wait and post pics when my room is completely done.

I am starting to get excited about school now. I haven't been in teacher mode all summer, its been nice but I feel so far behind. I made this short vowel sort as a review for my first graders. I figured it would be a good activity to use while I am teaching routines and procedures during small group reading. You can pick it up at my Teachers Pay Teachers store if you are interested. Just click the picture below.
